CANDIDATE’S SCHEDULE
FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF CITY OF NEWARK
TO BE HELD MAY 11, 2010

LAST DAY FOR FILING THE FOLLOWING:

March 18, 2010    (Thursday) (a)   Petitions for Nominations must be filed with the Municipal Clerk on or before the 54th day prior to regular municipal election. Petitions of nominations will be accepted at the Office of the City Clerk in Room 309 ONLY, City Hall up to 4:00 P.M.
  (b)    A Candidate’s Acceptance of Nomination must be produced with proper notarized oaths by candidate and candidate’s campaign manager.
  (c)    A Candidate’s designation/slogan shall consist of not more than six (6) words.  (A designation/slogan is not required)
   
March 22, 2010 (Monday) Last day to file written objections (4:00 P.M.)

   
March 24, 2010 (Wednesday) Last date for defects in petitions to be corrected. Names of signers’ of petition may not be added and name of candidate may not be changed.
   
March 29, 2010 (Monday) Drawing for ballot position by City Clerk at 11:00 A.M. in the Council Chamber, Second Floor, City Hall.
   
April 20, 2010    Last day for voters to register or transfer.

   
 April 27, 2010  Last day to file with the County Board of Elections petitions of names of two challengers for each candidate for each district, Room 411, Hall of Records, 465 Martin Luther King Blvd., Newark, N. J.
   
 May 4, 2010  Voting machine inspection. Each candidate will receive advanced notification by mail of time and location for inspection.
  Last day to apply for vote by mail in writing to County Clerk for a vote by mail ballot. Thereafter, a vote by mail application must be done in person to County Clerk no later than 3:00 P.M. on the day before the election.
   
 May 10, 2010 Last day for a civilian absentee voter to apply in person for a vote by mail ballot (up to 3:00 P.M.) in the OFFICE OF THE COUNTY CLERK.

   
 May 11, 2010  ELECTION DAY POLLS OPEN (6:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M.)

   
 June 15, 2010  MUNICIPAL RUN-OFF ELECTION


SPECIAL NOTE:     YOUR NAME AS IT APPEARS ON YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION RECORDS SHALL BE THE SAME ON ALL FORMS AND ELECTION PETITIONS.  FURTHER, YOUR NAME AS IT APPEARS ON YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION RECORDS SHALL BE THE WAY YOUR NAME APPEARS ON THE BALLOT.
