CITY CLERK TO HOST DRAWING FOR CANDIDATES' BALLOT PREFERENCES

NEWARK - The candidates for the upcoming Municipal elections on May 11, have been invited by the Office of the City Clerk, to City Hall to witness their ballot position selection. The drawing will be held in the Council Chamber at 920 Broad Street, on Monday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m.

This year’s drawing is the first time the event will be broadcast live on Cablevision Government Access Channel 78. “The Office of the City Clerk has made great strides in integrating the latest technology into our day to day functions. We also seek to be a leader in facilitating transparency in municipal government processes,” said Robert P. Marasco, City Clerk.

The candidates were advised that only they and two designees of their choosing may be present on the chamber floor during the drawing. Balcony seating on the third floor of the Chamber will be open to the public.

“At a time when civics classes are often the first casualties of school cutbacks, it is important that the public have the opportunity to witness democracy practiced at even its most fundamental level,” Marasco said.

Members of the media are invited and encouraged to attend the drawing.
