Mission and Purpose
The mission of the Department of Engineering is to provide comprehensive planning, programming, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and repair in order to preserve and expand the city's infrastructure.
The department is divided into the following divisions:
- Traffic and Signals, which provides comprehensive planning, development, construction management, replacement, and operation of the city's transportation infrastructure to ensure the safety and rideability of city streets.
- Motors, which provides comprehensive fleet maintenance and management services for the city's operating agencies so they may fulfill their respective missions.
- Public Buildings, which provides comprehensive maintenance, security, and custodial services for city buildings in order to keep them safe and attractive for public use.
