Construction Permits
Any person or company who needs to perform any work within the Right of Way of the City of Newark(sidewalk or street) must apply for a construction permit prior to the start of any work. Permits can be applied for at the Division of Traffic and Signals located at 255 Central Ave, Newark NJ 07103, between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm Monday – Friday.
All road construction, traffic control or public safety functions, which interfere with motor vehicle or pedestrian traffic on City streets and/or sidewalks shall require the use of Uniformed Newark Police Officers or Special Police Officers hired through the Newark Police Outside Employment Unit.
