Sanitation
The mission of the Division of Sanitation is to provide efficient and timely solid waste and recycling collection to the residents to promote a clean environment.
Parks and Grounds
The mission of the Division of Parks and Grounds is to provide maintenance and services to all city trees, parks playgrounds and public buildings to insure a clean environment.
Recreation and Cultural Affairs
The mission of the Division of Recreation and Cultural Affairs is to provide comprehensive recreational and cultural activities for the citizens of Newark.
Demolition and Clearance
Under the supervision of the Director of Neighborhood and Recreational Services, Demolition and Clearance is responsible for the City-wide elimination of dilapidated structures which pose a health or safety hazard to the citizens and/or general public, on an area benefit basis. There are specific forces on abandoned/vacant structures near schools. Also, to inform, through the Office of Recycling, all residents of the importance of recycling and its benefits through program savings in disposal fees.
