The 2nd Precinct serves several diverse neighborhoods that comprise the North Ward community, including 7th Avenue, Upper and Lower Roseville, North Broadway, Lower Broadway, Mt. Pleasant, and Forest Hill.
The 3rd Precinct serves the Ironbound District, named for its industrial area bounded by many rail yards. This East Ward district is the largest geographical police district in the city, covering 12 square miles, and is home to more than 60,000 residents.
The 4th Precinct is located in the heart of Newark's Central Ward. The district is unique in that it encompasses two political wards, West and Central. The district covers 3.4 square miles and is home to neighborhoods such as Upper and Lower Vailsburg, Ivy Hill, West Side, Fairmount, Springfield, Belmont, and University Heights, with a residential population of more than 67,000.
The 5th Precinct is home to a variety of residential neighborhoods and a substantial commercial corridor. This South Ward district covers 4 square miles and is home to 56,000 residents. Some of the neighborhoods included within the district are South Broad Street, Dayton, Upper and Lower Clinton Hill, and Weequahic.
