Assistant Municipal Prosecutor
Emily Truman is an assistant municipal prosecutor for the City of Newark. Truman joined the Municipal Prosecutor’s Office in September 2007.
Truman graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 2002 with a B.A. in psychology and a certificate in criminal justice. She earned her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law, Newark, in 2006. Prior to joining the prosecutor’s office, Truman clerked for the Honorable Mark A. Baber, J.S.C., Hudson County, Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Division, during the 2006-2007 term. Truman also worked as a research assistant for the Honorable Sylvia Pressler, P.J.A.D., Presiding Judge for Administration Appellate Division, Superior Court of New Jersey (Retired), and as a student attorney for Mental Hygiene Legal Services in New York City, Bellevue Hospital. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree in psychology.
Truman is admitted to the New Jersey Bar and the United States District Court of New Jersey. She is a member of the American Bar Association and New Jersey State Bar Association.
