The mission of the Office of Inspector General is to promote and defend the integrity, efficiency and accountability of the City of Newark and its operations. To realize this undertaking, the Office of Inspector General is committed to identify and investigate allegations of waste, fraud and abuse by city employees, as well as, outside vendors conducting business with the city. The purpose of this task is to build an atmosphere of honesty and integrity within city function.
The office of Inspector General has jurisdiction to conduct investigations and audits into most facets of city government, as well as, outside organizations contracted by the city to perform work.
