Newark Council Eager to Address Police Force Issues

NEWARK—According to a story in the Sunday, May 20 edition of the Star Ledger, SafirRosetti, a New York City-based consulting firm contracted by the city to evaluate its police force, just completed its report of the Newark Police Department. According to the article, the report details systematic infrastructure and morale problems within the department.

Newark Municipal Council President, Mildred Crump said she looks forward to addressing any issues raised in the report. “I have not read the report so I can’t speak to its contents. However, I will say that the Newark Municipal Council is committed to giving our
police force everything it needs to not just do the job, but do it superbly. The City of Newark is enjoying an amazing renewal and we want to make sure that everybody—citizens, police and visitors—can bask in the glow of our bright, bright future,” Crump said.

President Crump cited the development of the Central Ward, the influx of new businesses and the increased utilization of abandoned, vacant and undeveloped property throughout the city, as but a few of the indicators of the Newark’s growth.
