Baraka, South Ward Council Member John Sharpe James, Newark Housing Authority Executive Director Keith Kinard, and Newark US Department of Housing and Urban Development Field Office Director Maria Maio-Messano will cut the ribbon to open the new Training, Recreation, and Education Center tomorrow, Wednesday, November 2, at 11 a.m., at 55 Ludlow Street, in the city’s South Ward. Most Newark Residents No Longer Affected by Discoloration in Water; Water Remains Safe to Drink

Newark, NJ – October 14, 2016 – Water and Sewer Utilities Director Andrea Adebowale announced today that the City’s water remains safe for drinking and bathing. There has been no bacterial contamination. Residents are advised to flush the water in their homes for 5-10 minutes to clear out any remaining discoloration. Three separate and unrelated incidents this week led to the discoloration of Newark’s water: On Saturday, October 8, a valve on Aqueduct No. 1 was hit by a contractor, which required it to be isolated temporarily. New Bulk Trash Ordinance to Take Effect October 1: Pick-ups Limited to 10 items on Each Bulk Collection Day

Newark, NJ –- September 20, 2016 — Department of Public Works Director Talib Aquil announced today that starting on October 1, the City of Newark will begin enforcing a new Municipal Ordinance that will limit bulk trash pick-ups to 10 items on Bulk Collection days. Bulk items in excess of 10 will not be picked up by the City’s Division of Sanitation.
