The City of Newark's green initiatives are guided by the stakeholder recommendations put forth through the Newark's Green Future Summit.  This Summit was the culmination of a year long process that engaged over 400 stakeholders and culminated in a 2 day conference.

The City of Newark's Environmental Commission is carrying the torch and working with the Sustainability Officer and all municipal departments to ensure that the best green and socially responsible practices are realized throughout municipal policy, programs and partnerships.

The City of Newark has launched a Climate Prosperity Initiative to link residents, businesses and the public sector to energy efficiency and clean power choice.  Through partnerships with the state, our utility and community organizations, over 10,000 residents have switched to energy efficient light bulbs; 1,000 homes are being weatherized, and over 100 small businesses and public buildings are becoming more energy efficient.  Champions are also installing solar and choosing to buy clean power.  What are you doing to save money and reduce your carbon footprint?  Get started today by tapping into available assistance.
