The City of Newark's green initiatives are guided by the stakeholder recommendations put forth through the Newark's Green Future Summit. This Summit was the culmination of a year long process that engaged over 400 stakeholders and culminated in a 2 day conference.

The City of Newark has launched a Climate Prosperity Initiative to link residents, businesses and the public sector to energy efficiency and clean power choice. Through partnerships with the state, our utility and community organizations, over 10,000 residents have switched to energy efficient light bulbs; 1,000 homes are being weatherized, and over 100 small businesses and public buildings are becoming more energy efficient.
